Epoxy Garage Floors in Schaumburg, IL
Schaumburg is one of our strongest towns for garage coatings, and the split is again Weathersfield versus north of Golf Road. The Weathersfield slabs are structurally sound but hard-troweled and sealed over sixty years, so grinding is not optional. Acid etching cannot open a surface like that, which is exactly why home-center kits peel within a season. North of Golf Road the newer garages are cleaner to prep, but we check the pour date, because coating concrete under 28 days old traps its moisture and blisters.

Schaumburg specifics
No village permit is needed for a coating, so scheduling is straightforward. The prep is where the job is won on these older Weathersfield slabs: we diamond grind to a CSP-2 profile rather than etching. On the east side near Salt Creek, where the water table is higher, we run a moisture test before quoting.
Questions
Why did my home-center epoxy kit peel?
Almost certainly because it told you to acid etch. Etching cannot open a hard-troweled 1960s Weathersfield slab enough for resin to key in. We diamond grind to a CSP-2 profile, and that is the whole difference.
How long will my Schaumburg garage be out of use?
Three days. Grinding, repairs, primer, base coat and flake on day one; scrape, vacuum and topcoats on day two; walk on it after 24 hours from the last coat and park after 72.
What does an epoxy garage floor cost in Schaumburg?
We run one on every floor, and it matters most on the east side near Salt Creek. Above three pounds per thousand square feet per 24 hours we switch to a vapor-mitigating primer.
