Parking Lot Striping

Layout and painting of parking stalls, ADA spaces, fire lanes, arrows, numbering, and warehouse floor markings.

Striping is the cheapest thing a property manager can do to make a site look maintained, and also the thing most likely to draw a complaint when it is wrong. An accessible stall an inch too narrow, or an access aisle without hatching, is a compliance problem regardless of how new the paint is.

So we start by counting, confirming the ADA schedule and signage before any paint goes down. Layout is chalk and string, not eyeballing, because holding a consistent stall width across a run determines whether the lot parks the number of cars it should.

What's included

  • Site measurement and stall layout
  • Blowing and sweeping the surface
  • Chalk layout and string lines
  • Traffic-grade paint or thermoplastic
  • ADA stalls, access aisles and symbols
  • Fire lanes, arrows, stop bars, numbering

How the job goes

  1. Walk lot, count stalls, confirm ADA count
  2. Schedule a dry stretch above 50 degrees
  3. Blow and sweep, lay out, spray
  4. Stencil symbols, reopen in about an hour

Striping questions

How much does parking lot striping cost?

Restriping an existing layout is priced per stall and is the cheapest option. A new layout, ADA stalls with hatched aisles, arrows, and numbering are quoted on top of that.

How many ADA parking spaces does my lot need?

One accessible space per 25 total up to 100, then one per 50. One in every six must be van accessible with a 96-inch access aisle.

How often should a lot be restriped?

Every one to two years in this climate. Snowplow blades are what removes the paint, so a hard-plowed lot needs annual attention while a garage can go years.

What weather do you need to stripe?

Dry pavement above 50 degrees with no rain forecast for a few hours. In the Chicago area that means roughly April through October.
