A garage floor takes more abuse than any other slab in a house. Cars drive road salt onto it all winter, hot tires sit on it in summer, and oil and brake fluid land on it year round. Bare concrete absorbs all of it, and the salt spalls the surface off.
The value of an epoxy system is almost entirely in the preparation. We diamond grind the slab to a CSP-2 profile so the resin keys in mechanically. Acid etching, which is what home-center kits tell you to do, cannot achieve that on a power-troweled garage slab, and that is exactly why those floors peel.

How much does an epoxy garage floor cost near Chicago?
It follows the garage size and the coating system. Crack and spall repair on an older slab is quoted on top, once we have seen the floor and tested it for moisture.
How long does the garage need to be empty?
Three days. We grind and coat on day one, topcoat on day two, walk on it after 24 hours, and put vehicles back after 72.
What is hot-tire pickup?
Warm tires soften a weak coating and pull it off in patches when the car sits. It happens to floor paint and to epoxy over an acid-etched surface, not to a ground floor.
Can you coat a garage floor with cracks in it?
Yes. Cracks get chased to a V, vacuumed and filled with rigid polyurea before priming. Wide or actively moving cracks are different, and we flag them at the estimate.
