Epoxy Garage Floors in Wheaton, IL
Wheaton garage work covers an unusually wide age range. Near downtown many garages are detached and old, sometimes with slabs poured in stages over the decades, which means cold joints and elevation changes a coating will follow rather than hide. In Arrowhead, Briarcliffe and Danada the attached garages are uniform and straightforward to coat. Across the city the practical limit is temperature: unheated detached garages cannot be coated between December and March, because resin will not cure below 50 degrees.

Wheaton specifics
Coating requires no permit in Wheaton. The Historic District detached garages need the most honest conversation up front: a resin coating is a thin film that follows the surface rather than levelling it. Where a floor needs levelling, a self-levelling underlayment adds meaningfully to the cost and we quote it separately.
Questions
Will a coating level out my uneven old garage floor?
No. It is a thin film that follows the surface. Levelling needs a self-levelling underlayment first, which we quote as a separate line so you can decide whether it is worth it.
Can you coat an unheated detached garage in a Wheaton winter?
Not between roughly December and March. The resin needs the slab above about 50 degrees to cure. We schedule those garages April through November unless the space can be temporarily heated.
Are there cold joints in older garage slabs?
Often, in the Historic District where garages were extended or repoured in stages. A coating will follow those joints rather than hide them, which we show you before quoting.
